A brass foot valve is a type of check valve that controls water flow in a plumbing system. The valve is installed at the end of a suction line and contains a strainer and a disc that opens to allow fluid to flow in only one direction when the pump is turned on. A foot valve is often used in irrigation systems to prevent backflow of water.¬† Foot valves are also used in some industrial applications.
